Artwork
My paintings and prints are energetic, expressive, and atmospheric. I seek to make landscapes that emulate the sublime and awe-inspiring qualities of nature. Read my full artist statement
The following galleries present a sample of my work in chronological order.
2009-2011
Although my artistic production was smaller as I adjusted to life outside of school, in late 2010 I began to make consistent time for painting. In 2011, I finished pieces for my first solo exhibition.
2008
My final year as an undergraduate art student was pivotal for my artistic development. I embraced landscape as my subject matter, and pursued expression and emotion through that mold. I experimented heavily in printmaking and improved technically as a painter. Also important in 2008 was the opportunity to work on a large scale in both painting and printmaking. This work culminated in the ambitious intaglio print ‘Absolution’.
2007
My direction as an artist in 2007 was defined by a series of reductive lithographs in which a self-portrait was juxtaposed with landscape and another object, usually a vessel. I also began to paint large landscapes influenced by abstract expressionism and J. M. W. Turner.
2006
Early on in my schooling, the subject matter in my work was just beginning to develop. Paintings consisted mostly of studies and exercises. Printmaking mediums of intaglio and later, lithography, laid foundations for the work I would produce in the following years.
